Research & Teaching
The PUC High Energy Physics group is primarily involved in two experiments at the Hadron Colliders, namely, DZERO and CMS located at Fermilab and CERN respectively. The group consists of Prof. Neeti Parashar, the institution leader, postdoc Dr. John Stupak and 4 undergraduate students in physics. We have been involved in the construction of the CMS forward pixel detector, its simulation and an aggressive physics analyses program. Our recent searches have focused on finding Physics Beyond the Standard Model and possibility of any additional or charged Higgs that might exist. We are one of the contributing institutions to the discovery of the "Higgs Boson".
Parashar is very passionate about teaching and working with students. She was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Teacher and Outstanding Faculty Scholar Award, the latter for the second time, in 2013. Using her knowledge in the field, she has developed a very popular general education course on the topic of "Origin of the Universe".
