Research & Teaching
The Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) is the Engineering School of the Technical University of Lisbon, and has been educating portuguese engineers since 1911.
At this point a total of 19 courses at graduation and master level are proposed, all
integrated in the Bolonha Agreement, including a graduation/master in Physics Engineering and Technology (the Physics Course at IST) and a graduation/master in Biomedical Engineering, both managed by the
Physics Department at IST.
The research domains at IST are in great number, as can be expected in an Engineering School for Excellency. In Particle Physics and associated areas, research is connected with research centers in theoretical physics
(CFTP - Centre for Theoretical Particle Physics,
CFIF - Centre for Physics of Fundamental Interactions, and CENTRA - Multidisciplinary Center for Astrophysics) and in experimental particle physics
(LIP - Laboratory for Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics).
