Research and Teaching
In the Physics and Astronomy Department of the University of Catania
research activities are lead in several fields:
theoretical physics, heavy ion physics, high energy physics,
solid state physics, astrophysics and applied physics.
Researches concerning nuclear physics and high energy physics
are performed in collaboration with the
Section of Catania
of the
INFN (Istituto
Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare):
the theoretical and experimental aspects of the atomic nuclei and of the
fundamental interactions between elementary particles are studied.
Researchers of the Department participate to experiments
in the most prestigious international laboratories.
Studying physics in Catania
gives large possibilities of different choices.
University career is organized in three years for the first level degree, followed
by two years for the second level graduation.
The Ph.D. Course, of the duration of three years,
gives students an education mostly research-oriented.
The
Scuola Superiore di
Catania, offers an excellent career for
particularly deserving students.
