The Physik-Institut is part of the Faculty of Science of the Universität Zürich and carries out research and teaching in physics. The individual research groups work on particle and astroparticle physics. Groups from the institute participate in the following experiments: LHCb,  CMS,  H1,  XENON,  GERDA,  DARWIN and DAMIC, and furthermore in a number of smaller experiments at PSI. Moreover, a broad spectrum of research topics is covered in Elementary Particle Theory.
