Research & Teaching

The Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics (IPA) is part of the Physics Department of ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) provides research, teaching and studying physics. The groups focus on the field of particle and astroparticle physics. The Institute is involved in many international experiments at the forefront of research (see the detailed information here).

Among other we participate in the following experiments: CMS, MAGIC, CTA, FACT, OPERA, T2K, search for antimatter and dark matter in space (AMS) and underground, in the low energy experiments with positrons, neutrons nEDM) and muons Mu3e at PSI. The Ion Beam lab) does mass spectrometry.

Members of the Institute are also active in teaching. For some courses, held at the Institute, there is more information on this page. The complete curriculum can be found in the course catalog of the ETH.

The departement of physics regularly features "open days", special educational programs for teachers and information events for interested students.
